Farewell Beach Party

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

What a great opportunity that this year’s UEM farewell party was a beach party held in Koh Samed, an island near Pattaya. It’s a national conservation area, a national park.

It’s been a tradition, that the senior’s farewell party is held by the juniors. Since one of my junior is the Minister of Environment of Thailand (yup, the minister himself), he sponsored the trip. Wow, talk about some ministry class services! Yeah, the services everywhere was great, the organizers made sure we were comfortable and satisfied. The bus was from the ministry, conservation department. The accomodation was prepared very well. The great thing about the hotel was that it was located on a seaside cliff. There was a gazebo on the rear side overlooking the sea.  Very beautiful. In the morning, there was a rainbow too :D The first stop of our trip was a national zoo. It’s located in a mountaneous area. The sceneries was breathtaking. The mountains, the park, the animals, the lake, the fogs….wow! What a great way to develop a mountaneous area! The zoo was great, and the people there were so nice and served us a great deal.

The party was held a banquet style with a small stage. The most unforgettable thing of all about the party was the food!! :D All kinds of seafood! Shrimp, prawns, squids, fish, oysters, crabs, and some barbeques. I like the squid most of all…it tasted like no other squid I ever tasted, it’s roasted and kinda salted…oh it was soo damn good man! And they served (all u can drink) wine also and beer (but I dont drink).

In the afternoon, we went for some swimming near the beach. It was a green water and white sand beach. With some palm trees, shaded trees, and some rocks on the water. Some tourists were just laying in the sand, some children swimming and makin sand castles. I didnt swim though, not too interested. I’m more interested in hunting photos with my camera and take some candid shots :) After the swimming activity, there were some games for us. The games were so silly and kinda ‘dirty’ if u know what I mean. Hahah! Yeah, my gay junior invented the games, as u can see why :P

There were many bodyguards when the minister arrived, u know, the kind who wears black jackets and wears an earpiece as a walkie talkie or sumthin. Hey, there’s a cute bodyguard always standing near my table. Huihihihii… :P Anyways, the minister joined the party, he also sang some songs, we sang also, and danced, and drink, and finally drunk (except some girls). Each nationality had to sing. So me and my other 2 Indonesian friends sang also. But we had a hard time deciding an Indonesian song coz we cant remember the lyrics (hihii), so we sang ‘It might be you’ by Stephen Bishop instead :P It was so embarassing…I cant sing :D I went to bed early before the party ended..haha…too full of squid :P But I couldn’t sleep until 3 oclock coz the drunken people were soo noisy, laughing and yelling and stuff…

The next day we went touring the island by boat, stopping at different bays. There was one bay where it is a prominent tourist place and so crowded (the one we stayed was kind of a private bay, private beach). U can see all kinds of souvenier shops there and small restaurants. And then there was a bay of a fish farm as well. I never stopped takin pictures :) After that, we stopped at the hotel for some lunch (seafood again), and then went back to the main island to go home.

Dude, it was the greatest farewell party ever had!!! ;)
